Here Are the ‘Rolling Stone’ 10 Best Albums of the Year

Though there is still more than a full month left in the year, the roll-out of lists for best albums of the year has already begun. Perhaps the biggest name to jump the gun is the legendary publication Rolling Stone, which just shared its picks for 2016’s essential albums. As usual, it heavily favors old-school rock legends (did anyone even know The Rolling Stones made a new album this year?), but the top three are pretty rock solid. See the top 10 below:

10. Young Thug — JEFFERY
9. Leonard Cohen — You Want It Darker
8. Kanye West — The Life of Pablo
7. The Rolling Stones — Blue & Lonesome
6. Radiohead — A Moon Shaped Pool
5. Frank Ocean — Blonde
4. Car Seat Headrest — Teens of Denial
3. Chance the Rapper — Coloring Book
2. David Bowie —
1. Beyoncé — Lemonade

But Rolling Stone isn’t the only publication that got the jump on the end of the year. Music and film review site Consequence of Sound has also shared its best of 2016 and it seems to be in almost complete agreement when it comes to the three best records of the year. Here’s its top 10:

10. Leonard Cohen — You Want It Darker
9. Bon Iver — 22, A Million
8. Anderson .Paak — Malibu
7. Angel Olsen — My Woman
6. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds — Skeleton Tree
4. Frank Ocean — Blonde
3. David Bowie —
2. Chance the Rapper — Coloring Book
